This is going to be the first of several letters to you, my Christian siblings. I pray that when you read them, you will learn that Christ loves you and that you are a blessed child of God.
Dear Sibling,
I know that book you're reading is amazing. The plot is great, the characters amazing, and the details intriguing.
And then the questionable content hits.
You are faced with a dilemma. Do you keep reading or leave the book?
I have been faced with this situation more times than I care to count. For a while, I kept to the same authors to avoid being faced with this problem. This worked for some time, but I realized that this wasn't going to work forever. I had to be brave and judge the books for myself.
Many times I've chosen to stop reading the book. But there have been times where I ignored the consequences and continued reading.
We all have a choice to make. Will we keep our minds clean and pure by not sullying them with dirty books? Or throw caution to the wind and keep reading?
God calls us to be stewards of our minds and bodies. He tells us to be mini-Christs. How can we show God and glorify Him if we ingest the same writing as them?
Our choices make us different. Christian, are you showing Christ in your reading choices? Is God pleased with your mind?
I challenge you to review your reading choices and habits. Are you glorifying God through your reading?
Sincerely,
A sister in Christ
It's good to keep that in mind: are you glorifying God with what you read?
